Looking to Give Back This Holiday Season? 6+ Volunteer Service Opportunities in Fargo-Moorhead
One of the best things about the holidays is the opportunity for the community to come together and serve one another.
And one of the best things about the Fargo-Moorhead area is that it's filled with great people who love to give back.
If you want to get involved this holiday season, don't miss these incredible ways to spread joy by volunteering.
Help for the Homeless
While the cold weather of Fargo-Moorhead keeps homelessness to a minimum, there are still those in our community who need support in this way.
Churches United for the Homeless (CUFH) provides shelter, housing, food, and other supplies for area families in need. If you'd like to help, consider making a financial donation or donating items on their urgent needs list.
Other volunteer opportunities with CUFH include cleaning, serving meals in the Community Center, food pantry work, and more.

Help for People with Disabilities
For a fun and unique way to help, consider joining the Cards of Encouragement efforts at Creative Care for Reaching Independence (CCRI).
CCRI focuses on enhancing the lives of others through independent living options, life enrichment, mental health services, and more. Volunteers are always needed to write and send cards of encouragement to brighten the days of CCRI clients.
This easy, low-commitment opportunity is the perfect way to use your creativity, provide joy, and still have it fit within your busy holiday schedule.
Help for the Hopeless
Hope Blooms has made over 51,000 flower bouquets with the support of over 9,000 volunteer hours.
This unique give-back opportunity repurposes donated flowers into hope-filled bedside bouquets, delivering them to individuals in hospice care, nursing homes, or those facing loss or difficult times.
Individuals and groups can sign up to volunteer in various ways, including flower arranging, delivering, picking up flowers, and even cleaning and prepping jars to be used for floral arrangements.

Help with Your Pet Pal
Want to get your furry friend in on the volunteering as well? Check on the Ethos Hospice Pet Pal Volunteer opportunities.

Help for the Holidays
The Salvation Army focuses on "doing good with every ring" with their holiday bell-ringing efforts.
In the F-M area, you'll find that the storefronts of many businesses feature bell ringers with red kettles from November through Christmas Eve. What's more, you'll find a friendly, generous community of people willing to donate their cash and spare change to help provide families with groceries or shelter.
If you, your family, or your group would like to sign up as a bell ringer at an area business, learn about this vital community charity here.
Help for the Hungry
In 2021, the Great Plains Food Bank distributed over 15,200,000 pounds of food to help end hunger in North Dakota.
Using donated surplus food and the help of thousands of volunteers, the Great Plains Food Bank packages and distributes this food to more than 300 charitable feeding programs in 100 communities across North Dakota and Clay County, Minnesota.
This is an excellent group volunteer opportunity where your team can service for a few hours and make an extraordinary impact.
