New to West Fargo? Your Guide to Local Services
Whether you're moving across town or across the country, settling into a new city comes with a big checklist and West Fargo has its own way of doing things.
To help you feel right at home faster, we've rounded up the essential services, local programs, and resources that new (and long-time) West Fargo residents should know about.
Let's make adulting a little easier.
Utilities & City Services
When you move to West Fargo, one of your first stops should be setting up your utilities.
The City of West Fargo handles a variety of services all bundled into one monthly bill, making it easy to manage. Your bill includes water, sewer, garbage, recycling, sump pump maintenance, vector control, and even forestry services (yes, really).
To start or stop service, complete the Utility Service Application through the city's website. You can also sign up for eStatements and automatic payments to simplify the billing process. Bills are sent at the end of the month and due by the 15th of the following month—based on your actual usage.

Pet Licensing & Animal Services
Pet owners, take note: all dogs and cats over 12 weeks old must be licensed through the West Fargo Police Department.

You'll need to show proof of rabies vaccination to get started. Licenses cost $6 for spayed/neutered pets and $10 for those that aren't.
You can purchase pet licenses at the Police Department or participating local vet clinics. The license is valid until Dec. 31 of the year it's issued and must be renewed annually.
